What Is The Met Gala?
The Met Gala is an annual black tie gala held at New York's Metropolitan Museum, aka the Met. The Met Gala is held as a means to raise funds for the Met Museum's Art's Costume Institute. Coined as the Oscars of the fashion world, the Met Gala is the celebrity party of the year, and there is no better party than a themed party (even though some may not think so). Each year, months ahead of when the Met Gala occurs, a theme is announced to the world. It can often be quite ambiguous or conceptual, forcing viewers (and the attendees, their stylists and the like) to really think about their look.

The Met Gala is held on the first Monday of May, always. Which is pretty easy to remember, and a lot of people call it Met Monday. The 2024 Met Gala falls on the 6th of May. What Is The Met Gala 2024 Theme?
The Met Gala 2024 theme and official dress code is The Garden of Time. Which aligns with the Met Museums corresponding exhibition, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, as it always does. The theme is said to be shaped around three main sub themes of land, sea and sky. We imagine we will see lots of garden motifs and symbols of nature. Think florals, romantic frills and lacey details.
Zendaya
Zendaya wore a striking ocean blue and emerald green gown to the Met Gala this year. Featuring hummingbird details, a netted headpiece and tulle fabric. Her look has shimmering details which are reminiscent of the metallic flecks of sea life. The dress was designed by Maison Margiela by John Galliano, and it perfectly first the Garden Of Time theme.

Ayo graced the Met Gala carpet in one of the many predictions for the night, florals. She wore her signature brand, Loewe, and looked perfectly floral in a rainbow lacey gown. This style fit the brief of Garden Of Time, and looked divine against the green carpet backdrop.

In a glassy gown with dove like figures on her shoulders, Elle Fanning arrived at the Met Gala. Dressed in Balmain, Elle looks simply stunning and fits the brief in her icy, sculpturesque style. She is simply 'frozen in time' in the shimmering ensemble.
