Real Life, Real Stories: Belinda And Michael

Belinda and Michael’s wedding was all about the non-traditional, from the dress to the rustic venue. The wedding was set at the Panama Dining Room in Fitzroy and it was the perfect choice for their day due to the venue’s charm and its character. When Belinda and Michael first walked in, they saw the stunning arched windows and the mix of colours and patterns throughout the place and both fell in love with the spot. They decided that the whole wedding would be set here so that they could take photos with their bridal party in the laneways surrounding the venue and they could go straight from the 5pm ceremony to the reception.

To fit in with the theme of the venue, Belinda and Michael chose flowers that were beautifully unique. This followed her theme of being a bit different to the traditional approach. Belinda discovered the preserved flower trend that is widely popular and she decide to go with arrangement that were understated and neutral, and Leia & Me perfectly nailed the brief. Belinda stated that she didn’t want the flowers to “take away from my amazing beaded dress”. The gorgeous white flowers were the perfect addition to her sparkling look.

With a charming venue and floral arrangements chosen, a contemporary colour palette followed. Belinda first bought a white wedding dress. Although soon after she felt that this wasn’t quite the one. Belinda then purchased one more dress before seeing the Mimi Sky Blue Gown pop up on her Instagram feed. Belinda knew this shade of blue would suit her and her wedding perfectly. This blue shade also perfectly complemented Belinda’s sparkling blue eyes and her unique aquamarine engagement ring, so she set off to Montique store at Myer Melbourne to find the lucky last one left in her size waiting for her – “it was absolutely meant to be”.

The sky-blue gown would go on to match perfectly with her husband’s navy jacket and white shirt as well as her bridesmaid’s dresses. Belinda and her sister first found the bridesmaids dresses which were a deep navy colour, Belinda wasn’t too fazed by the choice of dress and was more than happy for her sister to pick out something she liked – the final choice matched perfectly with her colour scheme and her beautiful blue beaded dress.

The striking Mimi Hand Beaded Gown in the luscious sky-blue colourway was “the wow factor I was looking for”. Belinda wanted a dress that would flatter her body shape and would fit her wedding day brief, and the Mimi Dress was able to do just that. Belinda states that “people weren’t expecting what I wore, but throughout the night there was a constant stream of comments like: ‘oh my god, that dress is amazing!!’. And most importantly, my husband loved it so it was one big part of making our day so perfect”.
