Nadia and Nathan's wedding day was filled with elegance, romance and a touch of glimmer. On a summer afternoon on the 20th January, 2024, Nadia and Nathan were married at the beautiful chapel of St Michael the Archangel, a chapel which is situated atop a hill overlooking West Leederville, Perth. In attendance were seventy of Nadia and Nathan’s closest family and friends. The couple's bridal party consisted of their two best friends, as well as Nadia’s younger brother and sister. Nadia’s bridesmaids wore lovely light pink dresses. The ceremony was traditional and included elements of European traditions, as Nadia’s family are Russian and Italian. Nadia was walked down the aisle by her younger brother, and she wore a gorgeous bridal gown by designer, Enzoani. Nadia told us that she “fell in love with this dress due to the front and back v-neckline design and intricated beaded detailing.” The dress was perfect for the warm weathered summer day, and she paired it with stiletto heels with sparkling crystal embellishments.
After the wedding ceremony, Nadia and Nathan’s reception took place at the Doubletree by Hilton Perth Waterfront. As the venue's name implies, the reception overlooked a gorgeous waterfront view that is the Swan River. This meant that as guests arrived, they were invited to enjoy both a cocktail hour and a view. The couple’s wedding guests sipped on Aperol spritz and were served canapés before having dinner and being treated to a Moët Champagne tower amongst the glow of the setting sun. As the reception continued, the wedding guests were gifted with traditional bonbonnières which were organised by Nadia’s family, with each bonbonnière featuring a white ribbon with the couple’s names and wedding date. In these included Italian limoncello bottles for the men and traditional Russian matryoshka dolls with sugared almonds for the women. Nadia and Nathan also had a surprise piano accordion player arrive at their reception, which was the perfect way to get everyone on their feet dancing. This was extra special for Nadia as she told us that her “Nonno and Dedushka who have both passed away played the piano accordion and I know they would have loved it”.
Surrounded by the divine view, the sparkling champagne and the inviting gifts and entertainment, the rest of Nadia and Nathan’s wedding reception was dotted with stylish and considered details. Their reception tables were filled with white glass pillar candles and white tulle, and their florals were abundant with light pink roses and delicate baby’s breath flowers. The couple's colour scheme consisted of pinks, whites and golds, a combination which set the scene for an elegant and romantic feel. This colour scheme was not only included through their menus, table settings and florals, but also through their inviting wedding welcome sign which was drawn and hand painted by Nadia’s mum herself.
Nadia’s mum, Lilia, not only hand painted gorgeous pink floral motifs onto the wedding welcome sign, but she also wore a perfect pink dress for the occasion. Lilia wore our Amelia Hot Pink Gown to her daughter’s wedding, a gown which is bright and decorated with a floral shoulder design, perfect for the wedding dress code, the colour palette and the season. The Amelia Gown also complemented Nadia’s bridesmaids’ dresses beautifully, and Nadia told us, “seeing my Mum happy and confident in the dress on my wedding day was something that I will cherish forever.”
Lilia told us of her mother of the bride dress shopping experience, “I hardly ever wear dresses or skirts in my normal life. That’s why shopping for a dress seemed so daunting at the start and I wasn’t sure what would look good on me. Montique dresses attracted my attention first and were the first dresses that I tried on. I really liked the bright rich colours, the fabric that didn’t feel too restrictive and classy designs.
I thought it was crazy to go with the first thing I liked, so I sought out hundreds of dresses from other stores. After a while I went back to Montique and fell in love with a long bright pink dress with the off the shoulder flower decoration design. The dress made me feel glamourous and I had many guests compliment me. I felt so great wearing the Montique dress and I might even consider wearing dresses more often to other events.”
