Covering All Things Spring Wedding

So you've been invited to a spring wedding, now what? Spring is the most popular wedding season for a reason, the weather is warm (but not too hot), flowers are blooming and spirits are starting to lift. Spring wedding styles are becoming more diverse each year, leaving room for individuality and daring style expeditions.

Although trends change when it comes to seasons, there are a few things that you can keep in mind while you find something that is truly timeless for your spring wedding. These being, the wedding dress code, textures and prints, and silhouettes and styles. This spring, ensure you’re presenting your best self by donning an outfit you feel exceptionally beautiful in, here is our guide to help you get started.

Dress Code

Each wedding is different in its own way, the theme and story of each wedding is a tangible retelling of the couple's love story. Keeping this in mind, each wedding will have a specific dress code - even if it's not specified on the RSVP card. Most wedding venues will correlate to the dress code, so if you find yourself confused as to what to wear try and consider the venue for inspiration. For example, for a garden wedding the dress code will likely be more dressy casual, to fit the brief opt for an airy fabric, a slip style dress or even a jumpsuit. No matter the venue, a style that suits you and makes you feel beautiful is absolutely the best choice.

Textures! Metallics, Lace, Sequins?

Once you’ve confirmed the dress code it's time to start considering what textures, prints and colours to adorn for a spring wedding. Despite Miranda Priestly’s famous disdain for florals in spring ("Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking"), florals are a tried and true pattern for the springtime, and at a wedding they can add charm and elegance to your outfit. Spring is all about embracing colourful hues, textures and patterns so don't be afraid to take advantage of the seasonal benefits. For an edgier, modern look consider a metallic dress, beads or sequins for an eye catching factor. If it's closer to summer or the weather is expected to be warm, pay attention to the fabrics, looking for a flowy chiffon, or loose fitting gown will be sure to keep you cool.

Silhouettes & Details

So then what about silhouettes or details? In the springtime details like ruffles, open backs and layers are very fitting and can add additional charm to your look. However, the expectations of wedding guest attire are evolving every year, so feel free to go for something out of the ordinary. A bold shoulder ruffle, or an asymmetrical detail is an excellent way to elevate a classic silhouette to bring a bit of individuality to your look.
