What are the Emmy Awards?
The Emmy Awards ceremony is an annual academy event celebrating excellence and achievement in television and media. Only members of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences can vote within their discipline, e.g. acting, writing and producing. This year was the 76th year of the Emmy Awards with the first being in 1949. As well as the recognition for the arts the Emmy Awards are also a celebration of fashion and costume in the design industry. Each year the red carpet brings the newest season of designs and up-and-coming trends, colour palettes and prints. What are the Emmy Award Categories?
Awards are given in categories such as dramatic series, comedy series, special drama, limited series, and variety, music, or comedy. Most categories feature awards for best actor, best actress, supporting actor, supporting actress, director, and writer. Additionally, there are honors for special achievements, creative arts, and technical accomplishments.
Where do the Emmys take place?
The Emmy Awards take place in Los Angeles. This year they were hosted from the Peacock Theater. Although, the Emmy Awards have been held in numerous venues across America. This year's hosts were father and son duo and “Schitt’s Creek” stars Dan and Eugene Levy. Mindy Kaling
Mindy Kaling wore a striking Gayrav Gupta Couture gown, which has an extravagant plunge v neckline off the shoulder full length gown. Mindy was a presenter for this years Emmy Awards. The gowns intricate black sequin embellishments were memorizing against the red carpet.
Juno Temple
Juno Temple seen in a dashing red vintage Roberto Cavalli silk satin v neckline dress. Temple's dress radiates against the carpet, with elegant selvage cut outs around her lower legs. This dress is perfect for capturing movement and layering. Temple had 4 nominations for the night, three of which being for Ted Lasso.
Robin Roberts
Robin Roberts wore an enchanting ombre black and silver sequin halter gown by Marc Bouwer. The gown is cut along the bias creating a flattering fit that drapes as it touches the carpet. Halter necklines complement the bust and the shoulder areas nicely. Roberts' wore a simple silver crystal earring.
Liza Colón-Zayas
First time Emmy Award winner Liza Colon-Zayas, looked gorgeous in her custom Christan Siriano and Zales gown. Her emerald sequin metallic off the shoulder gown was hard to miss as it caste a beautiful shimmer on the stage as she accepted her award for Outstanding Supporting Actress, the metallic sheen from her gown was complemented by the radiate gold Emmy award.
